Finke Van 't Goed Ter Kaeksmete

100% Imported Mare

Finke van 't Goed ter Kaeksmete (Beech) is THE classic Brabant. She's a 12 year old imported blue roan mare standing 16.1 hands who both rides and drives. Her brawn and beauty are matched by her kind temperament and good mind. The only reason that she's available is because she is not working out in our breeding program and at such a prime age she needs to be somewhere that can put her other skills to better use, or invest in more hands-on breeding techniques to take advantage of her amazing genetic potential.

Beech has done a bit of everything. She is more whoa than go and will take care of her rider so she has often carted around newbies on the trail. She might not be best suited to going out solo without more practice simply because she will wear out your legs telling her to 'go' without a buddy to come along In harness, she's worked 2 and 3 abreast in the woods and even done a wedding entrance in a single cart! Again, she tends to be a bit on the lazy side and may not be the first pick for an all day, every day working situation but she is definitely a capable driving horse. We've taken her to local show-and-tell opportunities where she wows everyone and adores the attention.

When it comes to breeding, Beech has demonstrated a tendency towards developing placentitis which has resulted in losing multiple foals either before or shortly after foaling (due to sepsis). We've attempted a few different treatments and she has successfully raised two foals but it's simply not fair to her to consistently have her carry to at or near term and then undergo a loss. Her unique genetics and excellent representation of the breed make her a valuable genetic asset and if someone wanted to be more hands-on both embryo transfer and ICSI could yield good results, as she's very easy to get in foal, but it's not a route that we have the means to pursue at the moment. Beech lost her 2024 colt so she is currently open and could travel anytime. Horses like this seldom come along so if you've been looking for your unicorn don't wait to reach out!
