For many years now, every breeding season, a number of top draft horse stallions are available at our station for breeding. On this website you will find both the stallions that are now available with us, as well as the stallions that stayed with us in the past. You will also find some foals that are currently being reared with a view to the future.

Quality always comes first when choosing the stallions which will stand at stud. A good conformation with powerful movements and a good bloodline are the main qualities that characterize the stallions of Studfarm Van Langenhove. Every year a number of foals are purchased with an eye to the future. In this way Studfarm Van Langenhove follows the development of the horses from an early age and a continuous strict selection is made before the stallions are used for breeding.

Draft horses are bred at Stal Het Kruissewegje. Every year, several young stallions are presented for inspection at the Central Stallion Inspection of the Royal Association "Het Trekpaard & De Haflinger". That is why a number of promising colts are kept every year. These foals grow up in groups until they are 2.5 years old. We select strictly on quality, color and of course pedigree.

Jan Smits lives in Gerwen. Ever since he was a little boy, he has been involved with Draft Horses. He inherited the love for these horses from his father, who needed horses for daily use to transport goods. At the age of 10, Jan Smits went with his father to a national premium inspection for the first time. You could say that's when the passion started. He bought his first horse when he was 21 years old. With his second horse, Miranda, he took part in an inspection for the first time fifty years ago. Jan Smits has been successful from the start; the first time he took part in a driving competition, he became champion of Brabant.

Belgian draft horses have been bred under the tower of Millegem for many years . The driving force behind Groenenbroek Stables is Frans Beullens, who can be seen as one of the pillars of Antwerp draft horse breeding. The "van 't Groenenbroek" products are a fixed value in the competition circuit and breeding today is more lively than ever!
